enhanced person number four is born on earth and given the name "sela d███████"⁰¹.

sela lives on earth with his mother [redacted] in an area better than most in that it has a school (sort of) and people aren't dying every day from unfair security inspections by abusive spacian enforcers. sela's earliest memory is his first birthday. slight of stature, poor vision, and a quiet people pleaser, sela understands with the innateness of children that his mother is unhappy even when she smiles. he learns quickly to keep things to himself and to do as he's told in the hopes it will change that. it doesn't. "better off" is still pretty bad. there isn't always food, and illness comes easier than health. around the end of AS 116, after the harshest winter of his life so far, a strange group of people show up in the remains of their city. with them, comes a rumor under their feet, which pulls sela towards them with the quiet efficiency of a magnet.

sela⁰² commits to a contract that ensures: 1. that his mother will be afforded anything she needs to live comfortably even if harm comes to him; 2. assuming he survives the permet experimentation, space civilian numbers and identities allowing them to live off of earth legally in like-minded comfort to #1.

body and facial modifications -- gradually changed from his original face (1,2)⁰³. permet experimentations. isolation. memory erasure. lab tests: endurance, reaction, stamina, intelligence, reflex. enhancement augmentations (for example: correcting his vision and then enhancing it past ordinary human 20/20.) behavioral conditioning after taking into consideration the disparity of 4's personality when compared to elan ceres' personality, despite memory removal.

enhanced person 1 crashes and burns quickly. enhanced person 2 tries to run and is executed. enhanced person 3 performs very well and burns out faster than 1. as a result, enhanced person 4 enters asticassia at the three quarter point of "elan ceres" first year. begun on a test basis due to the implementation of the pharact, the original intention is for the real elan ceres to go sometimes but this direction is changed after the system of dueling is instated.

classes, duels, "health checkups" at peil which are exactly that but also further testing. even before 4 is dispatched to asticassia, he formulates the concept of economy of movement and strain to bolster endurance; first on a subconscious level and then when he realizes what he is doing and how in some capacity it is working, he fine tunes it. this feeds into the image of elan ceres as the ice prince, which works to his favor in keeping people "out" and the secret of what he really is, truly secret. even interactions with the other house heads and members of the dueling committee are limited. though on occasion, shaddiq zenelli has left the dueling committee in his care (such as evidenced in episode #2 - "cursed mobile suit".) this suggests any number of things but it is likely due to a practical form of trust rather than a personal one.

headcanon is what pretty much most of this is based in heavy extrapolation from the show. adding to that, that over time the toll the consistent experimenting with permet in enhanced persons' bodies will kill them regardless of whether it's in a duel or not. earlier on, hc is that he has more bouts of sickness and volatile pain. the longer he lasts, the better he gets at managing it through almost pathological compartmentalization.

canonically, enhanced person number four's last mark on the corporeal timeline. things progress as canon presents. further information can be given on this, if wished.

specific to dog-eat-dog verse with @elanprime. over a so-far nebulous amount of time up to now (we'll say actually that it goes back to somewhere after four's original enrollment but not the very beginning), four has been the recipient of prime's boredom and not-boredom: messages at odd hours, more interaction here and there when four returned for tests by peil, a surprise visit or two with prime in strange disguise, a gift of thirty books kept safe and quietly defended until graduation. in this timeline, four makes it to such a thing but the longer lifespan also means more subjection to permet, experimentation, and a quieter kind of death wish than even before.

peil returns four to his unit in the unsafe bastion of peil technologies many sterile corridors. elan ceres himself goes to graduation as is fitting. the next set of events is not wholly due to the considerably major life event of an assassination attempt but somewhat, and perhaps more so due to the invisibly major life event of realizing one does not want the other to die. reasons aside. elan ceres survives, many failsafes in place to account for such attempts. with the words "you've done enough" elan ceres triggers a counterproductive response in four: a sense that there is no need for him anymore, and four who has straddled that threshold of decision for years, almost dies.

specific to dog-eat-dog verse with @elanprime. four begins testing, experimentation, and rehabilitation, a not improbable hydra if not for what he already is. things will get worse before they get better. elan ceres informs him before the true battery of it begins, that peil will try to dislodge the blocking landslide keeping four's original memories buried, try to fix his body. peil being peil, with no stakes in terms of losing a more or less obsolete clone and knowing they have minimum of two in the wings ready to go, will make the most of it because any scientific and or clinical "success" can be synonymous with controlled profit.
